Network, Inc.

Network, Inc. was founded in 1991. It is a non-profit agency incorporated in Connecticut serving the developmentally disabled under contractual agreement with the Department of Mental Retardation. Network, Inc. upholds the principle that individuals with disabilities have a right to enjoy the same life experiences as other community members. Network has a 15 member Board of Directors comprised of family members, professionals from the communities and other interested individuals. Residential care is the core of Network’s Service Model. It encompasses a wide variety of strategies which reinforce the primary philosophy of the program: all human beings have the inherent right to live in their own communities in a supportive, dignified, non-restrictive environment. Through a comprehensive network of support, Network, Inc. promotes, establishes, equips and operates day program centers, community based residential homes and supported living arrangements for people with developmental disabilities. Network, Inc. has a very strong behavioral component in its services and prides itself on dramatically improving the quality of life for a number of individuals whose potential had been overlooked in more institutionalized settings. Our services are both vocational and residential and are designed around the abilities and needs of the individuals we have been asked to serve. The sense of stewardship of both Connecticut citizens and resources is part of what we try to keep in focus in all our activities and decisions. We are committed to the belief that developmentally disabled individuals, if kept in the mainstream of life and given the support they need, can learn to live to their fullest capabilities. Further, we maintain that this is every person’s right. Network, Inc. promotes the rights of people with disabilities, provides a forum for the exchange of skills and information regarding disability issues, and promotes a positive image of those we serve. We have been successful in providing the needed support that allows individuals to achieve their maximum independence. Network, Inc. provides all state mandated training for its employees including CPR and First Aid, PMT, and Annual Inservice. Employees belong to the District 1199-New England Health Care Employees Union.
